Was actually planning to take it easy on Saturday and just bring Anya for Little Gym, then go home and hang out there. But I saw in the papers that there was a Ni Hao Kai-Lan storytelling and meet-and-greet session at the library and I just had to bring Anya!! Ok, to be honest, Anya’s not super into Ni Hao Kai-Lan. She loves dancing to the theme song and she thinks the characters are cute but she doesn’t really bother to watch when the cartoon’s on unless there’s some singing going on. But I think Ni Hao Kai-Lan is super cute!! Hehe.
While we were waiting for the session to start, one of the Nickelodeon people gave Anya some tiny fuzzy yellow balls to play with. The two girls on my left (about 5 or 6 years old) and the boy on my right (3 years old) immediately starting grabbing the little balls from Anya insisting that she should share. It was really quite annoying. But when the girls managed to get some fuzzy yellow balls later on, they started whining loudly when Anya tried to touch the balls. Grr. Also, Anya got a bit restless right before the session started so I gave her my iPhone to play with. The same three kids leaned against me and kept poking at the iPhone. They even tried to take the phone away from her but I stopped them. Of course, their parents did nothing!!! And whenever Anya got excited during the storytelling and stood up momentarily, one of the girls would go hysterical and scream, “I can’t see!! I can’t seeeee!!!!!” ARGH!
Anyway, the storytelling bit was pretty good and quite interactive. The story was about Mid-Autumn Festival so the kids got to make little lanterns. They even gave each child a goody bag with a mooncake, a notebook, a lanyard and an activity book. The meet-and-greet bit was just lining up to take a photo with Kai-Lan. I thought the Kai-Lan mascot wasn’t very cute though.
