The Very Hungry Caterpillar and other Eric Carle favourites

We went to watch The Very Hungry Caterpillar and other Eric Carle favourites presented by act 3 International at the Genexis Theatre at the Fusionopolis yesterday. The Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, Canada performed three stories by Eric Carle: Little Cloud, The Mixed-Up Chameleon and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

I bought the three books about a month ago and have been reading them with Anya so that she would be familiar with the stories. It was a wonderful performance which really brought the stories to life. The puppetry was so well done and we couldn’t see the performers at all! Out of all the different performances that we have watched this year, I reckon that Anya enjoyed this one the most!

My only grouse is that there quite a few latecomers. I don’t understand why people can’t be punctual for performances!! I think they should have been let in only during the short pause after each story instead of as and when they arrived.

Anya at Abrakadoodle: Jacob Lawrence Doodle

For yesterday’s class, the kids did an art piece in the style of Jacob Lawrence. If you Google him and take a look at his work, you’ll see that, besides the fact that the figures are black, Anya’s piece looks nothing like a Jacob Lawrence. ;)
