Watched The Elves and the Shoemaker at the Drama Centre yesterday with the cousins. Adrian brought Adam with him to his office nearby while Anya and I went to catch the show.
It was a bit draggy at first as the characters were introduced and the story unfolded. Once again, they didn’t really keep to the original story and many other familiar fairy tale characters, like Cinderella, were thrown in. Some of these characters linked well to the story but others seemed to possess only the most tenuous link. The songs were rather catchy though! I also liked the puppetry and the colourful set.
During the interval, we went outside for a bit and Anya said that she didn’t want to watch anymore. Had to buy her some biscuits to convince her to go back inside. The pace picked up quite a bit and things got more interesting during the second half. When the show ended, Anya turned to me and declared, “I like the show!” and she was singing one of the songs as we left. Glad she enjoyed it after all!
