NYC: Magnolia Bakery

After lunch, I grabbed some cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery at Bleecker St nearby. These are the cupcakes made famous by Sex & the City. Verdict? The cake bit is pretty decent and moist enough but I find the frosting way too sweet for my liking. Magnolia Bakery can be found in a few other locations in New York, including the food court in Grand Central Terminal.

We spent the rest of the afternoon shopping our way down Bleecker St. I didn’t find anything to buy but I managed to pop over to the corner of Bedford and Grove St nearby to take a photo of the apartment that appears in the Friends series.

NYC: The Spotted Pig

My first meal in New York was lunch at The Spotted Pig, a gastropub in West Village. It’s one of the places that Anthony Bourdain goes to in the New York episode of No Reservations. I love how the place is filled to the brim with pictures of pigs and many little pig ornaments. We had to wait about an hour for a table but the food’s pretty good. I really enjoyed my oysters and the burger I shared with Debs.
