New York, New York: A First-Timer’s Guide

I’m attempting to sum up my entire New York City experience in just one post for a blog train being hosted by another blogger mum, Madeline. It’s not easy because I have 25 posts on the 7-day trip I took to NYC in February this year but I’m going to try! Do click on the NYC tag on the right if you want to read about any of the following in greater detail.

I’ve only been to NYC once (and only Manhattan) so I really don’t claim to be any sort of expert but I had a great touristy time there and can’t wait to go back again soon.

Some tips: Get a CityPASS. It gives you admission to Empire State Building, American Museum of Natural History, Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, Guggenheim Museum/ Top of the Rock and Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island/ Circle Line Cruise.

If you are planning to take the subway a lot, get a 7-day unlimited pass. It is ridiculously simple to get around on the subway. If you want to get cheap tickets for a Broadway show on the actual day or a matinee for the next day, buy from TKTS booths. There are 3 booths and the South St Seaport one is a lot less crowded than the Times Square one

Touristy sights:

Times Square. Just because.

Central Park is really big and so beautiful.

This post is part of a Blog Train hosted by Madeline at MadPsychMum. Continue your journey around the world through the eyes of Singapore Mom Bloggers!

On the next stop of this blog train, V will be showing you the highlights around the Amalfi Coast in Southern Italy.

V is currently a SAHM to (nearly) 4-year old Noey and 18-month old Nomi. She loves travelling, having travelled extensively in Europe and the North American continent as a student and thereafter as a young working adult. Post-kids, her holidays have become few and far between. Instead, she channels her energy into exploring the great outdoors with her kids right here in Singapore. On her blog Life is in the Small Things, she blogs about, yes, the small things (make that 2 naughty little small things), but also the big moments that make life meaningful.
