We also visited Bambini Atelier at the old Bukit Timah fire station during the Children’s Day event on Sunday. Bambini Atelier is “a space created for children to experience learning in the backyard, where it is natural and fun”. I think it’s awesome that they emphasis recycling and let kids get in touch with nature.
While we were at Bambini Atelier, Anya made a chocolate chip mooncake and also planted some sunflower seeds in a can. She likes hands-on activities but I don’t really do enough of such activities at home with her. So it was great that she had an opportunity to handle dough, to mould her mooncake, to dig around in soil, etc.
She kept asking me why her seeds weren’t growing yet and I can’t wait till the first little shoots make their appearance so that she can see the fruits of her labour! When we got home that night, she insisted on reading Eric Carle’s The Tiny Seed and I think she must have gone to sleep dreaming about her little sunflower seeds warm and safe in the soil.
