We went to watch SSO Babies’ Proms at the Esplanade last Thursday with the cousins. We bought our tickets separately so we were seated all over the place. I managed to get us seats in the third row and I think Anya really liked being so close to the stage. The day before, I briefly considered bringing Adam along but he can be really noisy and restless so I think he’ll have to wait till next year.
The SSO played excerpts from the following:
James Horner – Titanic
Klaus Badelt – Pirates of the Caribbean
Gabriel Fauré – Pavane
Georges Bizet – March of the Toreadors from Carmen Suite No. 1
Jill Townsend – Cheerful Cha Cha Cha
John Williams – Tribute to John Williams
Johann Strauss II – Blue Danube Waltz
Various – Themes from 007
Lalo Schifrin – Theme from Mission: Impossible
Anya had a good time and she declared that her favourites were the pieces about “the ship and the shark”. She wasn’t keen to go on stage to be near the musicians though. After the show, we bought a little book and CD set and got Uncle Peter the conductor to sign it for us.
