Look for the Boy with the Broken Smile..

Adam had a pretty bad fall yesterday. According to my mum, they were having breakfast at the food centre and he slipped off his seat, fell backwards and smashed his chin against the seat. I left work early and rushed to my mum’s place.

Adam was in good spirits when I got there and was happily playing with his sister. He didn’t want to show me his teeth but I could see that his bottom lip was cut. I put some lavender oil on the wound to stop the bleeding and reduce the swelling. He was very upset about that because lavender oil is extremely foul-tasting.

I couldn’t get a good look at his teeth and gums so we got him to take a nap and while he was sleeping, I saw that his front left incisor was completely bashed out of position and his gums were bleeding. Later that day, we took him to the dentist and the conclusion was that we had to wait and see if the teeth stabilise or turn grey and fall out. We haven’t decided if we should consult a paediatric dentist yet.

Yesterday night, I took a closer look at his teeth and saw that the first four or five teeth on the right side of his mouth are all either broken or bashed into the gums. He looks really terrible when he smiles. I’m quite heartbroken because I’ve always loved his cheeky little grin and now it’s all messed up. He also looks like some character from The Simpsons because his top lip is still swollen and sticking out.

I know it’s just teeth and his adult teeth will come in eventually so the damage is not permanent but I’m feeling really down about the whole incident. I also know that it is inevitable that children fall down and get hurt but I just wish I could form some safety bubble around him so I could protect him all the time. Sigh.

Adam Turns 2 – Combined Celebration with his Great Grandma

Adam’s birthday is a few days before Adrian’s grandmother’s so we had a combined celebration for them. The kids love hanging out at their great grandmother’s place because they can run wild in the garden!

Adam the Picky Eater

Adam loves to eat but he is very particular about what he eats. Like his sister, he is quite a carb monster and can be perfectly happy with just rice/ noodles and soup, and he doesn’t really eat any vegetables and only eats certain fruits. Unlike his sister, however, he only likes Chinese food! So when we were in Europe for two weeks, he barely ate anything except for the one or two times we had Asian food and we were quite worried that he wasn’t getting enough nutrients.

While we do our best to provide a balanced diet for the kids, I was more than happy to try out S-26 PE Gold formula for picky eaters. Since picky eaters may miss out on essential nutrients, S-26 PE Gold is there as a back-up to ensure that they get all the nutrients they need for growth and development.

S-26

Adam likes the taste of the S-26 PE Gold formula and I enjoy that extra peace of mind I get knowing that with over 25 essential nutrients found in all the major food groups, he’s not missing out on anything that he needs to be strong and healthy. He even looks less scrawny! If only we had some S-26 PE Gold with us during our Europe holiday!

Some additional information about S-26 PE Gold:

  • suitable for children between 1 and 10 years of age
  • fortified with DHA, AA, Choline and Taurine to help ensure mind health development
  • fortified with Lutein that helps protect the developing eye from harmful blue light & oxidative damage
  • contains Oligofructose-soluble dietary fiber and a balanced calcium & phosphorus ratio for calcium absorption
  • contains alpha-lactabulmin (alpha protein) a component of whey protein which is readily easily digested, absorbed and tolerated
  • contains vitamins C, D, E, folic acid, iron, calcium and zinc which picky eaters may not get through diet alone.

GIVEAWAY! :)

Is your kid a picky eater like Adam? Does your child do any of the following: skip meals, eat too little, eat too slowly, display unwillingness to try new foods, eat a limited variety of food, show little interest in food, or eat a limited amount of fruits & vegetables? If so, you may want to try S-26 PE Gold for picky eaters.

I’m giving away 2 x 600g pouches of S-26 PE Gold to 3 winners! Each 600g pouch is worth $22.60, so each winner will receive $45.20 worth of S-26 PE Gold. Please note that the winners will have to collect the pouches from a central location or somewhere in the West!

Adam Turns 2 – Celebration with the Family

Since Adam hasn’t started school and doesn’t really have any friends, we decided not to have a party with lots of kids and had a little family gathering at my mum’s place instead. My wonderful mother prepared lontong, glutinous rice, fried bee hoon and even made tau huay, and I ordered some DIY popiah. My aunt also made some tau suan so we had lots of good food to eat that day!

(Point to note: don’t ever order popiah from Old Longhouse. They gave us the most horrible, tough factory-made popiah skin and the rest of the ingredients weren’t that great either. I had to get Adrian to swing by Queensway to get some proper popiah skin.)

We ordered the birthday cake from Pine Garden and while I really do love their chocolate orange cake, they used some crazy food colouring to make the cake red and it stained our hands, lips, mouth and even left a stain on the floor! Very scary!!

Mama Shoppe Clothing – Review & Giveaway!

I have a thing for dressing the kids in matching clothing and I plan to do it for as long as I can and as long as they are willing to humour me! For now, Anya actually likes dressing up in the same print as her brother and will often pick out matching outfits they can wear together. One of her current favourites is a matching set from Mama Shoppe.

The clothing from Mama Shoppe is handmade by a team of ladies from Emmaus Women’s Centre in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This centre provides food and lodging to young women from disadvantaged backgrounds and trains them in dressmaking and other practical skills so that they will be able to find meaningful employment to support themselves and their families.

But just as importantly, the clothing from Mama Shoppe is well-made and very comfortable. Made from 100% cotton fabric imported from the USA, there are dresses for girls, shirts for boys, blouses & dresses for ladies and shirts for men, all in coordinating fabrics. Adam Turns 2 – Celebration with the Gang

We went over to Juan’s new place for National Day and had a great time splashing around in the pool. Really feel so blessed being able to hang out with good friends on a public holiday. We also had a little celebration for Adam with the National Day cake that Xin brought.
