Happy 3rd Birthday, Adam!

Adam Turns 3

My dearest little boy, you are now 3 years old! You have been a middle child for 7 months but you don’t seem too affected by it. You are still your sweet and good-natured self and you are always loving towards your brother and to everyone else in the family. You are easy to love too and you dispense hugs and kisses readily. I love your kind heart and your cheeky sense of humour. Whenever you see me in a dress, you declare that my outfit is so nice and that I am ‘Princess Mummy of Arendelle’!

Lately, you have been throwing terrible tantrums and it’s impossible to reason with you and scolding you achieves nothing either. I know it’s a difficult age for you because you are thinking and feeling so much but not always able to express yourself as clearly as you would like. You are fond of asking me, “When I’m naughty, do you still love me?” and I always tell you that I love you all the time, no matter what.

It’s hard for you to be patient when you want something and get no for an answer because the notion of delayed gratification is not something you appreciate. You have a love-hate relationship with your sister as well. When I see the two of you playing so happily, I know that having more than one kid is the best decision ever. But when you fight with each other and scream at the top of your lungs, I just want to hide somewhere until the chaos is over!

I’m glad that you are enjoying school and that you have friends you like playing with. Chinese enrichment class for you is not the best use of my money, however, and you can barely remember anything you learn there!  And to think I actually tried speaking to you in Mandarin when you were a baby!

Going from 2 to 3 years old has been a big leap for you and you have grown so much, both physically and mentally, and reached so many milestones along the way. To be honest, the past year was quite a blur and I find myself wondering where my squishy, babbling little toddler has disappeared to!

I love you more than I can adequately put in words and it’s not just because you’re the only one of my three kids who looks like me! Your open and guileless nature touches my heart and I want to protect you and keep you safe. God bless you, my sweetheart. You have an exciting year ahead of you.

Giddy Up! Cavalia is in Town!

For the first time in Singapore AND in Asia, CAVALIA is in town! A show like no other, the equestrian spectacular created in Canada by Normand Latourelle, co-founder of Cirque du Soleil, is a breathtaking production bringing together 50 majestic horses and 36 agile riders, aerialists, acrobats, dancers and musicians.

Cavalia artistically dramatises the enduring connection and relationship between Man and horses throughout time and across different landscapes. At the most basic level, it is circus with horses, but Cavalia is so much more than just that. Involving more than 350 costumes and 200 people, Cavalia has enthralled 4 million spectators and counting in 64 cities.

Personally, I think horses are beautiful creatures but I’m a little scared of them as well because they are so strong and powerful. But the mutual trust between the horses and the human performers in Cavalia was obvious and added to the overall intensity. The live music and singing, and the changing backdrop gave depth and provided the appropriate mood to each segment of the production.

I have never seen anything like Cavalia and It’s hard to say which part of the production I enjoyed the most. The stunning and realistic images projected on the 60 metre wide screen made me forget that we were sitting inside a tent and instead transported me to magical dream-like spaces. The acrobatic acts were lively, entertaining and amusing. The aerialists made even the most complicated movements and poses look effortless and graceful. I had my heart in my throat during the trick-riding stunts and could not help gasping out loud several times.

National Day 2014

It’s Singapore’s 49th National Day next week and the kids managed to catch one of the rehearsal parades with my aunts. One of my aunts got the tickets from her colleague. I have never successfully balloted for tickets in my life and I really wonder how some people get to go year after year without fail!  It’s been ages since I attended a parade and I’m not particularly keen to go but it’s really for the kids.

The photos are taken by my aunt and I think the kids had fun even though Adam was scared of the fireworks. Just one thing: why are there people not dressed in red & white? It’s National Day, for goodness sake, people should make some effort to dress appropriately! My kids even had red & white Rainbow Loom bracelets. Those who show up in anything other than red and/ or white should be banned from future National Day Parades!

Review & Giveaway: Mustela No-Rinse Cleansing Fluid & Vitamin Barrier Cream

David has been using Mustela products since he was born and we love how gentle and effective they are.  He’s going through several diapers a day at this stage and is prone to diaper rash because he’s currently on formula, so we are reliant on these diaper change essentials from Mustela.

Vitamin Barrier Cream 123 & No-Rinse Cleansing Fluid

Vitamin Barrier Cream 123 & No-Rinse Cleansing Fluid

PhysiObébé No-Rinse Cleansing Fluid is enriched with aloe vera and avocado extracts and is suitable for use from birth. Containing no alcohol, parabens, or phenoxyethanol, PhysiObébé No-Rinse Cleansing Fluid cleanses the delicate skin on baby’s face and diaper area without a need for rinsing and leaves the skin soft and clean.

PhysiObébé No-Rinse Cleansing Fluid is especially useful when we get home too late to give David a proper bath. I just clean his face and diaper area with some of the cleansing fluid on a cotton pad and he’s no longer grubby and can go to bed comfortably. I’ve tried it on myself and I can vouch that it’s gentle and refreshing, and it smells really good.

Vitamin Barrier Cream 123 is a breakthrough product developed after 10 years of research! They found that between 0 and 2 years of age, baby’s skin is more prone to inflammation and that the inflammation can be caused in three different ways. Thus, 123 Vitamin Barrier Cream contains 3 natural active ingredients to target the three causes of inflammation and prevents diaper rash, soothes irritated skin and helps skin to recover.  You can watch the product ad here.

Vitamin Barrier Cream 123 is one of my favourite Mustela products and it works really well for David, keeping his little bum rash-free. It’s easy to apply, stays on the diaper area between changes, comes off my hands readily with a quick wash and has a nice smell (but contains 0% fragrance). The last 2 points are very important for me because I really hate the smell and texture of medicated diaper cream!
