We took the kids to Impressions Art Studio at Loewen Rd for a bit of pottery painting the other day and it was a fruitful session for them. If the name of the art studio sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because they were previously at Cluny Court near Elly.
There are so many different pottery pieces to choose from. I liked a plate in the shape of a gingerbread man and I thought the Christmas ornaments were really cute. Adam chose a toy airplane to paint and Anya picked a heart-shaped box. I was trying to persuade her to choose a super cute ice-cream cone container but she had her heart (geddit??) set on that box. The kids then selected a few colours they liked before they starting painting.
The activity was perfect for Anya and she was very conscientious about using different colours on each section of the box and even added patterns to the cover and inside of the box. Adam needed a bit more help but still managed to make something cute. We will have to go back and collect their pieces after they have been fired and I can’t wait to see the final product!

Besides pottery painting, Impressions Arts Studio also offers other DIY activities like acrylic painting and batik painting. This weekend, 6 and 7 December, Impressions Art Studio is celebrating their move to Loewen Rd and will be offering free art activities from 2-5pm so do pop by and find out more about what they do.
Follow the directions closely because it’s quite hard to find. The entire area is under renovation and it’s hard to spot Impressions Art Studio in the corner.
